Education
![]() | Preparing for tomorrow. Educating the leaders in pharmacy. Our students play a role that ultimately affects the health of many people. So, the School of Pharmacy maintains its commitment to providing the most advanced and effective education possible. As therapeutic treatments become more potent and plentiful and personalized medicine becomes a reality, the education we provide has become more comprehensive and complex. Our curriculum utilizes instructional design and technology tools to impart the knowledge to discover new therapies, and provide a foundation to inspire graduates to improve health and the quality of life in others. We are proud of the caliber of students that are admitted to the School of Pharmacy. From the more than 160 students in our PharmD Program to researchers and students pursing their PhD, all are embarking on new ways to make a significant impact in the health care world. With more than 60% Maryland residents enrolled, we understand the importance of producing leaders that serve the state and local communities and are committed to our strong tradition of legacy graduates. The need for talented, knowledgeable pharmacy professionals is growing. Along with an aging population that is steadily increasing, we also face a nationwide shortage of pharmacists and pharmacy faculty. In response to this need, we are educating more pharmacists and scientists by doubling our enrollment in the next ten years. Additionally, through our disease-based residency programs and our graduate programs in pharmaceutical sciences and health services research, we impact patient care, research and policy while training tomorrow's educators. |
